ROCK TRAVEL THIS WEEKEND TO FACE THE WINGS

Toronto – The Toronto Rock (5-3) who are coming off a two game winning streak at home head to Philadelphia this weekend to face the Wings at the Wachovia Center on Saturday afternoon, March 8th at 1:00 p.m. EST.

Last weekend in front of 14, 452 fans, the Rock defeated the Calgary Roughnecks (3-6) at the ACC, 9-7. Bob Watson allowed only 7 goals on 48 shots in that game and Blaine Manning recorded a hat trick. Kasey Beirnes and defender Rob Marshall also contributed to the win with two goals apiece.

The Rock continue to be led by Manning who has a total of 17 goals and 24 assists heading into this weekends’ matchup. The Wings (6-1) led by forward Athan Iannucci with 50 points (35 goals, 15 assists) are undefeated at home.

In 2007, Toronto and Philadelphia split the season series one game apiece both winning in front of their home crowd. Ryan Benesch led the Rock with 12 points (7 goals, 2 assists) in the two games against the Wings last year.

This weekends’ Rock road game will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet Ontario beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST. as well as be available on the B2 Network.
