ROCK ACQUIRE DAVE CUTTEN FROM RUSH

TORONTO –The Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club have traded forward Mark Scherman to the Edmonton Rush in exchange for defenceman Dave Cutten.  Due to club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Scherman, who was picked up by the Rock in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft (2nd round, 21st overall) played in twelve games in his two seasons with Toronto.  In 2009, Scherman tallied six points (2 goals, 4 assists) and collected 27 loose balls.

In November 2008, Cutten was signed to the Edmonton Rush as a rookie, but did not play any games in the 2009 season.  He is currently playing for the Major Series Lacrosse K-W Kodiaks in his first full season of Sr. A lacrosse.

As a defender Cutten has recorded 6 assists, 14 penalty minutes and one loose ball through 14 games with the Kodiaks.

Rock GM Terry Sanderson says Cutten is made for the type of defence the Rock play.

“He’s what we call a ball hound,” said Sanderson of Cutten’s quick and athletic ability on the floor.

“He runs the floor really well and is a really tough player to play against,” Sanderson added.

The Toronto Rock also released forwards Jason Crosbie and Jason Clark from the roster last week.

Crosbie, an NLL veteran was signed as a free agent with the Rock last summer.  He tallied 50 points during the 2009 season with 12 goals and 38 assists.

Acquired by Toronto in March 2009, Clark played in three games with the Rock.
